Since its creation, our ADISA Lab is trying to emerge and shine between its “international siblings”. Are we afraid to be the least of the brothers and sisters? Are we afraid of failing or not being as good as it should be? Yes Sir! However, we DARE! We know that the road is long, but our team is making big efforts to succeed. That is why we are investing our time and heart on new ideas to improve public services in Albania. Upon participation on “The 10th Annual Conference devoted to Innovation in Public Administration – Navigating in Times of Change”, organized by ReSPA, we received another invitation: Istanbul Innovation Days held from 31 October to 2 November 2017 in Istanbul, Turkey. The participation in this conference was of a great importance for us because of the leitmotif “innovation”. Let us admit it, who else would not be happy to be part of a gathering where the most successful Innovation Labs of the world would take part? We were excited to meet and gain from the experience of the Labs from UK, Nigeria, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, FYR Macedonia, Finland and organizations such as Poverty StopLight, Twiga, Solar Coin and PetaJakarta. Our team leader Ms. Jonida Taraj, Director of the Development of Services Directorate at ADISA as well, represented us in such an amazing journey. Why was it amazing for us? Because Istanbul Innovation Days is an annual gathering run by UNDP’s Istanbul Regional Hub that seeks to explore and accelerate organizational learning of the emerging trends and approaches to development and policy making. Moreover, an event held in collaboration with Nesta and McKinsey, is a guarantee of success in the Innovation labs “zone”. Since the focus was public innovation, this gathering was all about identifying strategies for embedding new, experimental approaches into the core of the public sector. We learned about the best practices and shared our experience as well. We are back in Tirana more inspired than ever!
